Ginger, a 7-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was brought into a Maine shelter, Responsible Pet Care, as a stray in 2014. She has been there ever since – waiting for a forever home.
1,456 days is a long time for a sweet dog to wait for a family of her own. Thankfully, the shelter staff has taken amazing care of her. They love her but want her to be adopted. Ginger sent a plea over social media by wearing a sign around her neck that read, “I have been in the shelter for 1,456 days. Please adopt me.” The photo and post went viral.
Ginger does have some special requirements for her forever home. She is a beautiful princess that needs to be the only dog in the home, so she can have your undivided attention. This dog knows what she wants and is set in her ways. The rescue posted, “she does have some issues with resource guarding, so no small children. Someone who knows this fantastic breed, older couple, single person, or someone who has an empty couch space needing to be filled!? Please share, you never know who this may reach! Ginger thanks you all!!!”
The response to Ginger was overwhelming. The shelter received many inquires, but are still working on finding the best fit for the sweet pup. They require anyone interested in Ginger to meet her in person first, a home check by the staff, reference check and no other animals in the home. She is still available for adoption at this time. We hope she gets a loving home soon!
